The Board of Directors and staff of Neopolitan Lighthouse are
dedicated to promoting the physical, emotional, educational, and
practical needs of abused women and children. By working to
foster self-esteem and self-reliance among survivors, Neopolitan
Lighthouse provides support to women and children as they begin
to break the cycles of violence which have affected their lives.
Neopolitan Lighthouse does not discriminate on the basis of
socio-economic background, ethnicity, race, religious
preference, sexual orientation, or citizenship status. The
philosophy of Neopolitan Lighthouse is to provide women and
children with a safe environment where empowerment is the main
objective.
Our efforts are directed towards quality support services that
promote self-reliance in the clients we serve. Every woman, upon
entry into the program, will have the opportunity to assess her
primary needs for self-sufficiency. Clients then work with case
managers who assist with identifying and implementing
appropriate goals and objectives.
We at Neopolitan Lighthouse believe the misuse of power and
control is at the root of all abusive relationships. We hope
that a client’s experience at Neopolitan Lighthouse will enable
her to realize that she is not responsible or at fault for her
partner’s abusive behavior. Clients will also come to understand
that abuse of power and control can occur in any relationship.
She can then use this knowledge to evaluate her relationships.
Although society has made some progress in protecting the legal
rights of domestic violence survivors, there is much more to be
done. Neopolitan Lighthouse is dedicated to educating the
public, as well as the legal system, on respecting the rights of
survivors. We will do any and all lawful activities to
accomplish the aforementioned purposes.
