VOLUNTEER/INTERNSHIP
OPPORTUNITIES
Neopolitan Lighthouse has the following volunteer/internship positions available:
1.
Crisis Line:
Neopolitan Lighthouse
has opportunities available for individuals interested in answering our 24-hour
crisis line. Crisis line workers are
responsible for providing emergency crisis intervention services, support,
advocacy and referrals to victims of domestic violence and their family members
who call the crisis line. Crisis line
workers assist with conducting intake interviews with victims of domestic
violence seeking entry into the shelter.
Crisis line workers are also available to assist shelter staff with
shelter activities and the day-to-day operations of the shelter as needed.
2.
Children’s Program:
Neopolitan Lighthouse
has opportunities available for individuals interested in working with our
children’s program. Volunteers/interns
assist our children’s counselors in caring for children residing at the
domestic violence shelter.
Responsibilities include providing child care during women’s groups,
assisting to implement children’s groups, assisting in art therapy sessions,
providing supportive interaction with the children including play and reading
time, and assisting with children’s outings.
3.
Community Outreach:
Neopolitan Lighthouse
has opportunities available for individuals interested in working with our
Outreach Program. Responsibilities
include assisting with educational/awareness programs to provide information
about domestic violence/dating violence to the community. Volunteers/interns will assist with
presentations in local high schools, youth centers, homeless shelters, and
other sites where women and children are affected by domestic violence.
4.
Administrative Assistance:
Neopolitan Lighthouse
has opportunities available for individuals who are interested in assisting
with miscellaneous administrative tasks including soliciting donations,
organizing and displaying donations, clerical assistance and office staffing.

Adult Case Manager
Qualifications:
This position requires a
BA/BS degree in a Social Service field.
Work Hours:
The shelter facility
operates 365 days a year. Each employee
will be issued a work schedule. This
schedule is a swing shift which means work hours will include both day, afternoon,
and night shifts.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Adult Case Manager assumes the responsibility for the overall provision of direct services to families in the shelter program and ensures appropriate implementation of service interventions throughout all phases of case management in compliance with the organization's policies, procedures and other regulations.
2. Client Support Staff:
Qualifications: This position requires at minimum a high school diploma or GED and knowledge of issues pertaining to survivors of domestic violence.
Work Hours:
The shelter facility
operates 365 days a year. Each employee
will be issued a work schedule. This
schedule is a swing shift which means work hours will include both day, afternoon,
and night shifts.
Client Support Staff is responsible for enforcing all house rules and providing individual, group and support counseling. Other responsibilities include providing crisis intervention services when needed. The client support staff offers encouragement, assistance with referrals and support during the client's stay at the shelter.
